Dear whoever is concerned, in charge, in authority, or just watching,
I shall give no greetings for anyone alive today, there’s no point, how can greet anyone and all of us have blood in our hands…
Do you remember a revolution we once made, or once had? We call it “the 25th of Jan.” Revolution…as this is when it started, and since then, since this particular date, we often described it as “continuous”…sadly let me inform you, it’s finished, it’s a dead body now, a dead corpse, like many of our friends, brothers, and sisters killed since that date, and during the last few days…look at the corpse carefully, shed a tear, because you are not going to see it again…
That 25th of Jan. revolution, if you still remember, was made for reasons, for hopes, for dreams…which was beautifully summarized in three principles, call them goals:
“Bread, Freedom and Social Justice”
We added to those three goals, “Human Dignity”… yes we were dreamers!!
I am not writing this to inform you, what we have reached, or have we achieved those goals or not…as it’s time for each one of us now, to stop dictating, lecturing, and giving speeches…it’s time for each one of us, to (alone) re-think history, and see by him/her (self) what we have reached.
Where are our dreams? Where are our hopes? , Where are our goals? Where’s our revolution? And where’s our country?
As this is an open letter, I am not waiting for an answer, I guess it’s not hard to find an answer, just take a walk, go around a little, and you will find traces of the truth, you will find blood, follow it closely, see where it ends, and there you will find your answer.
Tracking blood always help, for more than 2 years now, we are either giving more blood, or tracking it, we didn’t stop for one day…it always end, at a house like all our houses, where you find a mother, a father, or a sister crying for losing their loved one (s).
But we never gave up, we used to say, this holy blood is the fuel of this revolution, but the revolution car is now broken, so where all this blood is going?, it’s going in vain…Who is in charge of this country now to talk to?, stupid as it may seem, but give me one name…No one!, and I think it’s meant to be this way, when no one in charge, no one is responsible, and when no one is responsible, no one cares, and when no one cares, everything becomes inexpensive including blood.
People caring about blood nowadays are said to be “idealists” (here comes a time when being an idealist is something bad!)…so I am an idealist! I don’t mind being an idealist, a dreamer even, but what are you? If I am an idealist that makes you a “Realist”, right?
Here are some realities then;
We lost our revolution…we had one, lost in it our lives and blood, but we lost it! I apologize, but these are realities that every realist should know…but don’t you worry, we lost it to people you know, so if you want it back, be my guest…we lost it to the same people we made the revolution against!...yes! Maybe we lost everything in this country, but sure we haven’t lost our sense of humor, sadly enough, and as much satirical and funny it’s, it’s the truth!
You want more reality?
You know who is in charge now?, can you bare to hear the truth, you don’t want to hear or listen to?
The Army,Yes, but don’t you worry, in an country built on double standards, everyday there’s a new version of the same truth…so before the 25th of Jan. revolution, this was an ugly truth, but now, those days, it’s an amazing truth, a good news…who else but the army will defend us, who else but the army will save us, who else but the army will protect us, who else but the army will help us, pay our debts, and feed us…who else?
Truth hurts sometimes, and reality bites, so let me offer you more…
That same Army ruled us for 60 years, yet we haven’t seen or had any of the above…but we like to forget, and neglect the truth even if it’s crystal clear!
Oh! I can list more of the army’s achievements, during the so called “SCAF days”, from massacres against people, not differentiating between a Muslim or a Christian, we all lived the pain, but we all forgot…not to mention that those crimes were too, crimes against humanity, and a threat to the national security, and requires an investigation with those in charge then, who are still living in peace between and among us…but sorry, I apologize for my excessive idealist thoughts, guess I forgot what I mentioned earlier, there is a new version of the same truth every day in a country built on double standards.
Don’t think I am Pro-Morsi, or Pro-Islamists? They are uglier than the truth itself…a group eliminated by the Army and Police for years, and when people gave them power, the first to be eliminated by them were the people, and they opened their hands wide open to the Army and Police. Again, we never lost our sense of humor…The amount of hate and wounds created by the islamists after the revolution, will take years to heal… at least no one now can blame the Christians for their fear of Islam, as there are Muslims now who fear it even more…
But we owe still an apology for the Christians, people facing all these hardships, racism, and sectarian violence, and still can have such an amazing self-control …but pity them, for years not involved in politics, for them the army or any similar dictator is their savior! But we can’t blame them for this.
Remember the Ministry of Interior?! And all those talks about its re-structure, building it all over again, on new values? Values that respect our humanity?...remembering clearing it from all old faces involved in violating our privacy and humanity for years?, remember all those who killed us, their photos on the roofs pointing their weapons at us?, remember those who targeted our eyes? You know their pictures and their names right?, if you are new to the revolution, it’s okay…let me remind you of those who killed “Khaled Saeed”, or those who took “Sayyed Bilal” from his house, to return him a corpse…remember the state security building we went to?, this building we were scared before to pass by? Remember emergency law?, the law any young policeman can’t live without, how can he, if this is the only way he can fight crime, by arresting anyone at any time, by creating a state of fear…where you follow rules not because you believe in the law, or respect it, but because you are scared…
Do you want me to list their achievements?, now that will take more than one letter, but who cares…again there is another version of the same truth…they were victims, they were defending themselves against islamists, they were protecting us from the Muslim Brothers, as they knew them better than anyone…forget about videos, cars running over people, snipers on the roofs, and all those documented photos…these all are fraud, it’s the islamists that killed, it’s Hamas, and the Palestinians who were the cause of all this bloodshed, and burning…I guess it’s the days of glory for the Ministry of Interior nowadays…the beloved “Emergency Law” is back.
And it must be, more glorious, for Mubarak’s and his regime’s lawyers…now we are proved right, like never before…free everyone, they were heroes and far sighted than all of us…
Sorry for being an “Idealist”, but here’s what I don’t get…wasn’t General Sessy head of the Military intelligence, before the revolution, during it, and all through the SCAF reign…during all this time, didn’t he see anything that could be considered a threat to national security? Like for example killing protestors, football fans, bombing churches, you know those type of stuff…didn’t he witnessed the SCAF, making deals earlier on with the MB members?, and why witnessing, he was part of the SCAF! Something else, worth mentioning isn’t that Minister of interior “Mohamed Ibrahim” the same person we were demanding his resignation after Port said and Etehadia incidents?, how the enemy, the killer, the criminal becomes a hero the next day? Welcome to my country…
Our blood is still in the streets, still flowing and will continue flowing for a long time…and as it flows, the media still stimulating hate…you feel it in the air, you can smell it…those are killers, those are terrorists, those are sheep, those are not Egyptians…and we have the other side making his own judgments too…those are Muslims, those are infidels, those are in heaven and those are in hell…
Who are we?!
I still remember a square, that was a state of conscious…in this square everyone helped the other, believed in the other, and offered his life to save the other…a square, that was empty of hate, or envy…no one is more powerful, or stronger than the other…everyone is the same…the leftist, the liberal, the islamist, the Christian, the socialist, etc, everyone was there and happy…till the leaders came…
The fake leaders…those who talks, give great speeches, inspire, and when the crucial time comes, you are alone…none of them is found! In my country we have liberals who asks for the Military to interfere, in my country we have leftists using poor people, in my country we have socialists with capitalistic ideas!, in my country we have seculars using religion, and islamists don’t know anything about politics nor religion.
But those are the leaders, we make revolutions, and they rule, we die for them to live, we cry for them to laugh, we go hungry for them to eat, we stand in lines for them to ride a car with bodyguards around…talking alot about how ugly islamists leaders nowadays?, but what about the other side leaders? They are all the same…they are all killers; they all have blood in their hands.
Who are we again?!
You know who are we?
We are the “Third Party”!
Yes we are, there were always two parties, two powers fighting, and we were always the third party in between…we are those who go in the streets, believing in cause, a dream, or a fake leader, and die…we those sitting in front of TVs consuming hate 24/7 to one another, for channels to sell, and make money…we are dreamers who lost their dreams, the rationalists who became irrational, the idealists who became realists. Our blood became cheap, a source of income, and a tool to gain power.
Those in Rabaa sit in, those in their houses, islamists, liberals, Muslims, Christians, anyone in this country know this, killing never changed an idea, power is not everything, and force was never a solution…there are people dying, there’s blood in the streets…who are you to judge who’s blood is holier? Who are we, jumping into conclusions, who are we deciding who is in heaven and who is in hell.
For all those interested in photos, look at the pictures of corpses carefully, you might have seen that person before in a sit in, or a protest…like it or not Mr. Realist, but the islamists, did protest, did gather, did help, and defend the square one day…and the islamists did kill too when they were in power, did lie, did eliminate, and did commit torture…eliminating was never a solution…putting them in jails were never a solution, and killing them will not end them.
Don’t rely on the Army, they are the same, no difference trust me…don’t say the others are making deals with the US and Israel…no one coordinate and have interests with both the US and Israel more than the army.
There’s no conspiracy theory, neither do Israel or the US wants to destroy us, we are making a very good job ourselves already.
We are an empty society, let’s be honest, our biggest achievements lately is getting rid of presidents, we are a nation full of beliefs and empty of religion. We are a nation that wears a cloth it doesn’t weave, and eats bread it doesn’t harvest. We are a nation that acclaims the bully as hero, and a nation that only raises its voice and cries out loud only in funerals, and will only rebel when it’s neck is laid between the sword and the block. We are a nation whose statesman is a fox, whose philosophers are jugglers, whose religious leaders are disbelievers, and whose art is the art of patching and mimicking. We are a nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting, and farewells him with hooting, only to welcome another with trumpeting again…a nation divided into fragments;
Each fragment deeming itself a nation!
